How Positive Thinking Helps

The world is does-positive-thinking-help-you-20120811102240full of evil. Ever since the world began, the dark side have already existed. It can be the devil in the garden of Eden, the disasters that the pre-historic animals in the Ice Age experienced or the brutality during the Dark Ages. These are all negative entities in the world. All the more now in the highly advanced modern world. The world is full of evil more than ever. We need positive thinking to overcome it.

The Need to Focus on What is Important

The evil around the world has made us worry about the present and the future. It has taken our attention from making the most of the present where it should be. Worrying about future and even the present is not helpful. There is a difference between worrying and caring for. You do not need to worry about the future to feel okay. What you need to do is to care for it. Not worrying does not mean that you do not care for the future.

On the other hand, worrying can cripple you. It will make you paranoid. And paranoia brings about adverse effects on the thinker and what he does. But if you have positive thinking, you will not worry about your future. You will care for it. You will think of it with a positive outlook. In the process, you will be able to move on towards the future with confidence and actual capability.

The Dream to be Happy

Happiness is still the ultimate goal of human life in this highly advanced modern world. You are still entitled to be happy. You still have the right and freedom to seek happiness. Without positive thinking, you will not think of becoming happy anymore. In the process, you are depriving yourself of this ultimate fulfilment as a human being. In other words, positive thinking helps you to stay human and sane in this maddening modern world.

Doing What Needs to be Done

Further, it is positive thinking that eventually enables us people to be happy, stay happy, set more goals to be happy and actually do what needs to be done to do so. Positive thinking will not be complete and its rationale will not be achieved if we are not able to achieve its goal which is to be happy. We should do what needs to be done to achieve our goals and be truly happy. Positive thinking enables us to do so. It is positive thinking that actually enables us to act and do what we need to do in life. Because of the many and big discouragements in life, without positive thinking, we are paralysed.

Dealing with Difficult People at the Workplace

Wherever we go, there are difficult people. They600-00982979 are in public places, in communities, the neighbourhood, school and the workplace. There can even be one in the family or any house environment you are living in. But those in these last two mentioned places are usually negligible, especially because they are close to us and they do not bother us with much time or extent. Even the people who are difficult to deal with whom we interact in public places and communities may not bother us that much. It is the difficult people in the workplace whom affect us a lot. Knowing how to deal with them is important.

The difficult people in the workplace can affect us much. They can even be the cause of resignation. But even if transfer to another company, there will still be people of this kind there. As mentioned, they are everywhere. We cannot just avoid them by quitting from one company to another. We need to deal with them. Without leaving, we can avoid them, ignore them or adapt to them. We can do one or more of these at the same time or one after another.

Difficult people in the workplace or any other working environment can disrupt us in doing our jobs. First, some of them behave us such exactly in the performance of work. They do their tasks in the wrong way or even not do them at all. In connection with this, they behave in ways which make it difficult for other people whose jobs are affected to approach them. They are not approachable and they respond in undesirable ways to say the least. Those whose works are directly related to their work will really be affected. Even those whose works do not need to be coordinated with them are still affected. Their difficult behaviour bothers and annoys other workers.

So, here are some tips on how to deal with difficult people in the workplace.

Avoid

Avoiding could be the easiest step or alternative. It can be the first that you will need or want to do. This is most applicable to those whose job is not directly related or affected by the work of the difficult person being avoided. It is the quickest and could be the best that you can do. You do not need to deal with them, so why not avoid them. Still, if your work is directly related or affected by the difficult person or their work, you can avoid them in applicable ways. The possible disadvantage to this is that, later, you may find it disturbing to constantly make the conscious effort to steer away from their path. However, you can always make some adjustments later. For example, you can proceed with another step or phase which is to ignore them.

Ignore

Ignoring the difficult people in the workplace is not the same as avoiding them. The latter is not having something to do with them as much as possible. The former is directly dealing with them but ignoring them or their difficult behaviour. You can still talk to them but will not have some of their difficult behaviour. For example, ignore their excessive arguing by listening, pretending to listen or creatively cutting them off. For instance, you can just list what they want to say and stop the argument by writing down on the whiteboard or the minutes of the meeting what they are pushing.

Adapt

After avoiding and then ignoring difficult people in the workplace, you can proceed with adapting to them. You have experienced avoiding and ignoring them and so have prepared yourself to do the next and higher form of dealing with these people. You are now ready to adapt to them. You have already made yourself strong enough to finally deal with them head on with the best possible ways and best possible results. You can now meet them at their game and “play” along with them without being bothered and distracted from your many other tasks that need focus.

With a more stable mind and emotion, you can now deal with difficult people. Engage them in discussions whether or not relating to work. When discussing with them topics inside the scope of work, you can now start to correct what wrong conceptions, ideas, beliefs, behaviour and means they have. First, listen to what they have to say. Then, as opposed to the preceeding ignoring them, you can actually process what they say. You will now be able to let them listen and understand what really are correct and needs to be done or followed.

Summary

Dealing with difficult people is inevitable because they are inevitable. Wherever you go, there will always be people who are like them. You can start by “not dealing” with them, proceed with dealing with them but ignoring them in ways that they do not know or notice and lastly, actually deal with them. In this last stage, you are now ready and will be able to let them listen, understand and follow what should be done in work. You only have to be emotionally and mentally mature enough to be able to do this. Difficult people will learn to listen, understand and heed. Show and make them feel that you are sincere in listening to them and they will also listen to you.

How to Set Realistic Goals

In work and life, happiness is important. To be happy, we need to be successful. Success is relative. It depends on the person. It depends on his values and priorities. It depends on what things does one value and prioritise in life. What may be important to you may not be important to others and what may be important to others may not be important to you.

To be happy, we should be succgoal-settingessful in the things which are important to us. And when talking about success, we need to have goals. Goals are the ends and the means of success. They are what we would like to achieve and they help us work towards achieving them. They are our motivation.

Success and Happiness

Happiness, success and goals are three interchangeable concepts. The ultimate goal is happiness. It can be achieved through success. And goals can make us happy. Yes, goals are the keys to happiness. You can make yourself more successful, and eventually happy, if you know how set goals, specifically how to set realistic goals.

Realistic Goals

Realistic goals are the best because they are true challenges and measures of success. You are not fooling yourself here. You are giving yourself the true reason to be happy. At the same time, you are not foolishly putting yourself down by setting high flying goals and not achieving them which are really not achievable by you in the first place.

So, set realistic goals, achieve them, be successful, feel successful and be happy! Here are some tips on how to do this.

Yes, you should focus on who you are and what you can do. Do not dwell on what you cannot do and what others can do that you cannot do. Know what will make you happy. Use your knowledge about yourself as a basis on what goals will you set for yourself.

  1. Know What Others Are Doing

This is what others are doing; not what others are. Focus on tasks and not on people. Never compare yourself to others. Rather, compare what others are doing and what you do. Again, notice that we are not talking about what others can do nor what you cannot do. You will use in setting realistic goals the information on what others are achieving or doing.

  1. Challenge Yourself

Here is where you use your knowledge of yourself and information about what others are doing. Based on how you know yourself, your strength and weaknesses and what others are doing, challenge yourself to do more than what you are doing. This will be your realistic goal. It is something you are yet to achieve or do but which is achievable by you based on your capability.
